The Pittsburgh Pirates open a three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at PNC Park. Gerrit Cole will start for the Pirates tonight against Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers, who lead the National League Western Division. Kershaw is 9-6 this season with a 2.37 ERA. He leads the majors in strikeouts with 192. Cole leads the majors in wins and is 14-5 with a 2.29 ERA. The Pirates are 11-2 against Western Division teams this season.
Tonight’s game will be nationally televised on ESPN. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. The Pirates are now six games behind first-place St. Louis in the Central Division, after the Cardinals defeated the Cincinnati Reds 3-0 Thursday.
