The Pittsburgh Pirates-Chicago Cubs game was rained out last night at PNC Park. The game was delayed by rain two times during the night for more than three hours before being called in the top of the fifth inning. The teams were tied at 1-1. A make-up date has not been announced. Tonight’s game will feature the debut of starter J.A. Happ. First pitch is 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. First baseman Michael Morse made his Pirates debut last night and had a double, although that hit will be erased from the record books because of the rainout.
The game was being televised on ESPN last night, the first of three national television broadcasts over the next week at PNC Park. Two of the three games with the Los Angeles Dodgers will be aired nationally, including Friday’s pitching match-up between Gerrit Cole and Clayton Kershaw. Sunday’s game has been moved to an 8:08pm start for national television, despite the Steelers meeting the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL pre-season opening Hall of Fame game.
