The reason why South Butler’s superintendent is taking the same position at a Lawrence County school district is simply location.
We told you earlier this week about the Mohawk school district voting to hire current South Butler head administrator Michael Leitera.
Leitera is from Lawrence County and currently lives with his family in Shenango Township so the move to Mohawk will eliminate about an hour and a half of travel time every day.
Leitera says that he has been impressed with the culture and comfort level he has felt at Mohawk as he considered the move. He says he could “definitely see staying there for sure”.
The transition plans are still in development but Leitera expects them to be finalized early next week as he continues to work for South Butler during the day and get up to speed on Mohawk in the evening.
Leitera says he “appreciates the strong community at South Butler” and is proud of the many accomplishments he has made as part of the team there including increased technology, fiscal responsibility, and student scores. Leitera also said that he is confident that the district will continue to “move in a positive direction.”
