The City of Butler has received several generous donations in recent days from local people and organizations to help first responders.
According to Mayor Ben Smith, two separate $10,000 donations to the police department were received from the Logan Trust and the Evelyn Rogers Trust.
City Solicitor Tom Breth donated money to pay for a new camera to be used in the evidence room of the police department. Corina Diehl from Diehl Automotive donated nearly $9,000 which was added to a state grant to allow all officers to be outfitted with new bullet-proof vests at no cost to the city.
The Elks donated $500 to the fire department to help pay for equipment and fire prevention supplies.
