One person was seriously injured in a crash that closed a portion of Route 228 in Adams Township for nearly four hours on Monday.
The crash between two vehicles happened about 10:30 a.m. on Route 228 at the Pittsburgh Street and Warrendale Road intersection near Mars, according to the Adams Township Police Department.
One driver- a male- was seriously hurt. A medical helicopter landed at the nearby Mars VFW to transport him to a Pittsburgh hospital.
The other driver- a female- was not seriously injured.
As of Tuesday morning, Adams Township police say it looked like one of the drivers ran a red light, but nothing has been confirmed. The entire crash remains under investigation.
A portion of Route 228 was shut down for several hours to allow state police to do an accident reconstruction. Traffic was rerouted through Mars.
