Butler Township is considering a request from Butler County to take over responsibilities for a local road.
At a meeting Monday night, the township commissioners discussed a letter from the county commissioners asking the township to take over maintenance of 1,000 feet of Alameda Road.
The county has offered to repave the road before turning it over to the township, which is a $35,000 value. However, Butler Township Manager Ed Kirkwood pointed out that his biggest concern is there is no turn-around area which could cause problems in the winter.
The county did not mention any time frame for a decision on their proposal so the township commissioners plan to get a report from Butler Township Public Works Superintendent Tom Knight before they make a decision at a later date.
