Central Electric Cooperative is warning of a phone scam that is targeting its members.
CEC officials urge residents to be aware of suspicious phone calls from those claiming to be representatives from CEC. The callers will likely ask for payment over the phone via a debit or credit card and threaten disconnection.
You’re urged to never give out any personal or bank information over the phone. CEC says it will never call and demand payment. If unsure if the caller is associated with your co-op, hang up and immediately call the office at 1-800-521-0570.
Central Electric Cooperative, Inc. is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative serving approximately 25,000 members with over 3,000 miles of distribution line in portions of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Forest, Mercer and Venango counties.
