There may be a third Living Treasures Animal Park coming to the region.
There are currently two wild animal parks- one in Slippery Rock Township near New Castle (just past the Moraine exit on Interstate 79) and a second in the Laurel Highlands near Donegal in Westmoreland County. The owner of one of the parks is now looking to open a location a few miles from the Grove City Premium Outlets in Liberty Township, Mercer County.
The park is set to canvass 143 acres and open next summer. Local residents have expressed concerns over potential water contamination due to the exotic animal waste. Several nearby residents use well-water systems.
Liberty Township Supervisors say the owner must meet Department of Environmental Protection regulations to ensure residents’ water does not become contaminated.
