Also happening in state government Tuesday…a closely-watched bill to privatize liquor sales passed both the State House and Senate.
It was the first time the bill ever made it this far, but whether the governor will now veto it still remains unclear.
The wine and liquor privatization plan would close about 600-state controlled liquor stores and allow beer-sales license holders (including grocery stores, retailers, and others) to pay a higher fee for permission to sell liquor and wine.
Supporters say it would add convenience and modernization to an archaic system.
