A lengthy bargaining session Tuesday night could lead to progress in contract negotiations between South Butler County teachers and the district’s school board.
According to an update provided by board solicitor Tom Breth, the bargaining session started at 7 p.m. and continued to around 1 a.m.
Three or four members of the South Butler County School Board exchanged formal proposals with representatives of the South Butler County Education Association bargaining unit. The two sides also worked closely with the state appointed mediator to exchange numerous informal proposals and counter-proposals.
The Board update states that board members believe progress was made on several important issues. The next two negotiation sessions are planned for the evenings of Monday, March 12th and Tuesday, March 13th also at 7 p.m.
