The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago WhiteSox 3-0 last night at PNC Park. Pirate starting pitcher Charlie Morton guided the Bucs to their sixth straight victory, allowing four hits over seven innings. He is now 5-0 in five starts this season, and lowered his ERA to 1.62 overall. Sean Rodriguez and Francisco Cervelli homered for the Pirates.
The Pirates meet the WhiteSox again tonight, this time in Chicago. Jeff Locke will start tonight’s game which begins at 7:10pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:45pm.
The Pirates announced the signing of draft pick Ke’Bryan Hayes, a high school player selected 32nd overall in the recent MLB draft. The son of former major league player Charlie Hayes signed for $1.8 million. He will begin his minor league play this weekend in Florida.
