Emergency responders were busy with a couple of crashes around the Butler County area Friday afternoon.
The first was a multiple vehicle accident that injured at least one person in Slippery Rock.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 1:30 p.m. for a crash in the 200 block of Grove City Road near the Slippery Rock Federal Credit Union.
Crews from Slippery Rock Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene to find two vehicles involved and one person lying on the road.
The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time but traffic was delayed for a time until that scene was cleared.
Then a road hazard on Interstate 79 damaged several vehicles and backed up traffic in Cranberry Township.
The call came in just after 2 p.m. that a pallet on the road near mile marker 78 northbound resulted in damage to numerous vehicles.
Cranberry Fire Department and police were among those responding to the scene to find five vehicles involved including a semi-truck. No one was injured.
The incident did cause extensive traffic backups on Interstate 79 until the pallet and disabled vehicles could be removed.
