No one was injured in a house fire that destroyed a Cranberry Township home Tuesday night. Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company Chief Dave Mack told our newsroom, “I was en route and per police updates because I can scan police, it was fully involved and already through the roof. Upon (arriving) on scene, (we) established command and confirmed it was fully involved and that it would be a defensive fire. For us that means no one was going inside; strictly fight the fire from the outside.”
The fire started about 9:30 p.m. at a home on Franklin Road, near Timberview Drive, and close to the Jackson Township line. Several fire departments were called to the scene including Adams Area, Callery, Evans City, and Harmony Fire District.
A portion of Franklin Road was shut down as crews battled the flames. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. One possible cause could be faulty wiring and anyone who suspects that the wiring in their home is not safe can arrange the best Fixed wire testing London has to offer or use a similar company that is more local. According to Mack, the damage was extensive, “It’s pretty much destroyed. I mean there are some walls still standing but the garage is gone that was attached; most of the second floor, the roof is gone. I’d say half of the second floor is into the first floor.”
Crews had to deal with live electrical wires down at the scene as well as a second house about 75 feet away that potentially could have been affected by the house that was on fire. The fire was under control in by around 11 p.m. but crews remained on the scene until around 1 a.m.
