Butler’s new police chief is adjusting to his position.
Chief Bob O’Neill addressed Butler City Council during a meeting on Tuesday.
“While we’ve met some great challenges and opportunities the first couple of weeks, I believe that we have also met great resolve and cooperation from all the officers and the general public. Pretty much everyone has tried their best to help me in every way and I really appreciate the cooperation from everyone,” Chief O’Neill said.
O’Neill started the job on Nov. 1 and leads the 23-officer department. He was an officer with the Cranberry Township Police Department for 17 years. He also lost a close race for Butler County Commissioner during the 2015 Republican primary.
O’Neill says Butler City Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of one man and the stabbing of another that occurred in the city of Butler last week.
