The Butler Area School District elementary school that has been closed since February could reopen after Christmas.
Superintendent Brian White sent Summit Township Elementary School parents a letter Friday explaining the proposed reopening. The school board is expected to vote on the issue at Monday’s meeting.
The school was closed at the beginning of the year due to high levels of lead and copper in the drinking water. The school is now hooked up to public water, all water fixtures have been replaced, and tests done in November showed the water is safe to drink.
