A project that will improve streets near a local park is moving forward with the planning stage.
The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler heard from engineer Ron Olsen about plans to replace parts of Kaufman Drive and Lincoln Avenue, near Father Marinaro Park. Olsen Craft Associates was awarded the engineering contract for this project in July at a cost of $24,500.
The first phase of the project is reconstructing Lincoln Avenue, from Short Street to Grant Street, near The Arbors housing units. The project is currently in the design stage and could be put out to bid this winter to begin in the spring.
Olsen in confident this phase will be able to be accomplished for less than $100,000. Money to pay for this project is expected to come from over $185,000 set aside for street improvements in the 2015 and 2017 Community Development Block Grants.
