One person was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital Wednesday morning after a tractor trailer and a pickup truck collided on Route 422 in Prospect.
Prospect Fire Chief Ken Wilson said the crash happened about 7 a.m. near the Big Butler Fairgrounds.
“The pickup was traveling eastbound on Rt. 422 and the tractor trailer was pulling out of the Fairground Market parking lot,” Wilson said.
The driver of the pickup was trapped inside, according to Wilson. Crews were called in to extricate him. A medical helicopter then landed on Route 422 and transported him to Allegheny General Hospital. His exact injuries are unclear and his name was not immediately released.
The tractor trailer driver was not injured.
Wilson said there have been several accidents on this stretch of Rt. 422.
“It goes from a four-lane to a two-lane and, unfortunately, everybody seems to be in a hurry through that section,” he said. “It’s a very bad area.”
State police are investigating.
