The biggest event of the year highlighting agriculture in Butler County is back this week.
It’s the Butler Farm Show.
The show starts Monday and runs through Saturday, and it’s the 70th anniversary of the event.
“We’re proud of our Farm Show and we think back to the people that started it and what they envisioned,” organizer Ken Metrick said in an interview. “I don’t think that any of them envisioned what it’s grown into today. It’s more than a carnival. It’s more than a livestock show. There’s just a little bit there for everybody to enjoy.”
Close to 500 volunteers will pitch in to present a six-day festival complete with carnival rides, tractor pulls, a wide variety of vendors and performances, and of course the delicious fair food.
The event is held at the Butler Farm Show grounds on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. Gates open daily at 8:30 a.m. and remain open through 11 p.m.
Admission is $7 on Monday and $8 the rest of the week.
