Tens of millions of people will travel nationwide for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission predicts 3.5 million vehicles will travel the highway over the next six days. The heaviest turnpike traffic is expected Friday with about 750,000 vehicles on the road.
Beginning Friday at 5 p.m. and continuing through the evening of July 10, all scheduled maintenance and construction projects will be suspended. Additional personnel will also be scheduled to help with emergencies.
Troop D of the Pennsylvania State Police will be conducting DUI Checkpoints at various locations around Butler and neighboring counties. Motorists should have license, registration, and insurance ready as well, and, as always, wear seatbelts and drive sober.
