The Butler Area School Board has terminated the agreement they previously had in place to sell the former Oakland Township School.
The original deal that the board had last year with businessman Monty Edgar to sell the school for $360,000 was held up by water problems.
A clause in the contract was triggered to allow for the termination of the deal because the district spent more than $10,000 in an attempt to restore the water service. The board chose not to accept an offer of roughly half the original price made by Edgar for the facility as-is.
The district will now request offers for the purchase of the school with the purchaser being solely responsible for water service to the building.
