Richard Petty Motorsports announced Monday that Darrell Wallace Junior will drive its Number-43 car in this weekend’s Cup Series race at Pocono while Aric Almirola continues to recover from injuries suffered last month at Kansas Speedway. Wallace is a 23-year-old Alabama native who’s currently driving for Roush Fenway Racing in the X-finity Series, where he’s fourth in the 2017 point standings. Roush Fenway Racing said Monday that it will suspend operations of its car following this coming weekend’s race at Pocono so Wallace can focus on his transition to the Cup Series.
