Two Pittsburgh men are accused of running a large scale marijuana grow operation out of a slaughter house and butcher shop in Jefferson Township.
According to State Police, members of the Troop D Vice Unit executed a search warrant just after 2 p.m. Wednesday (5/31) at an empty slaughter house at 1080 Saxonburg Road. Employees of the Department of Agriculture alerted police after they observed signs of the operation during an inspection of the property.
29-year old Philip Mironov and 29-year-old Ebraheim Salem were charged after the two story facility was found to contain four large grow rooms containing grow lights and other equipment to produce marijuana. The slaughter house was empty but 95 potted marijuana plants were found in a wooded area behind the building in three separate plots.
Police received assistance from PennDOT workers and trucks in order to load and haul out the equipment. Mironov and Salem face multiple charges including felony manufacture of a controlled substance.
