Kyle Busch won the Cup Series All-Star Race Saturday in Charlotte and picked up a million dollar paycheck. It is the first win in Cup car for Busch at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The teams gear up for the Coca-Cola 600 this Sunday night in Charlotte. WBUT 1050am and wbut.com will carry that race and the Indianapolis 500 Sunday following the noon news. The Cup Series race will begin at 5:30pm.
Busch also won the Truck Series race at Charlotte Friday night.
Scott Dixon won the pole position for the Indy 500 Sunday with a four-lap average of more than 232 miles per hour. It is his third Indianapolis 500 pole. Ed Carpenter and Alexander Rossi are also on the front row.
Ron Capps won his fourth consecutive Funny Car race Sunday at the NHRA Heartlant Nationals in Topeka, Kansas. Capps is the first driver to win four races in a row since Robert Hight in 2012. Antron Brown took the Top Fuel event and Tanner Gray won the Pro Stock.
There will not be a Triple Crown winner in horse racing this year. “Cloud Computing” pulled an upset victory at the Preakness Stakes Satuday, edging “Classic Empire” at the finish. Kentucky Derby winner “Always Dreaming” held an early lead, but faded to eighth.
