The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 1-0 Sunday and took two of three games in their series. Pirate starter Chad Kuhl allowed just one hit before leaving the game after five innings. Wade LeBlanc won the game in relief of Kuhl. Adam Frazier scored the only run of the game in the sixth inning. He was two for three in the game. Tony Watson earned his 10th save of the season. The Bucs have won six of their past eight.
The Pirates open a four-game series with the Atlanta Braves tonight. First pitch is 7:35pm. Pre-game on WISR is 7:10pm. The Bucs are now 20-24 overall. Gerrit Cole starts for the Pirates.
The Braves have acquired former Slippery Rock University stand-out Matt Adams for a minor league prospect. The Braves lost first baseman Freddie Freeman last week to a broken wrist. The 28-year old Adams had been batting .292 with the Cardinals in 48 at-bats this season.
