The only district judge facing competition in yesterday’s primary rolled to a victory over a first-time candidate.
Sue Haggerty easily turned back challenger Mike Sippey by a two-to-one margin to retain her seat as district judge for most of southeastern Butler County.
Haggerty was first elected in 1998.
In Slippery Rock, the incumbent mayor in a local borough was defeated in last night’s GOP Primary.
Slippery Rock Mayor Ronald Fodor was unseated by 26-year-old Jon David Longo, a Slippery Rock University graduate.
Longo won by 23 votes over Fodor, who was running for re-election after his first term expired.
There was no Democratic candidates for mayor on the ballot, however 90 write-in votes were recorded.
