Local police are warning residents about a fraud scam that is circulating around the area.
According to Butler Township Police, the scammer poses online as a person needing help with shipping various items.
The scammer ships items to a victim and asks them to repackage and reship the items to a different address. Those items are frequently bought with stolen credit card numbers and the scammer is often out of the country due to work.
Anyone who has encountered this type of scam is asked to file a complaint with the FBI through their internet crime complaint center at ic3.gov.
