The Slippery Rock University baseball team had six players named to the 2017 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division team – including a Butler high school graduate. Wyatt Daugherty, a sophomore relief pitcher was named to first team honors along with juniors Tyler Walters, Luca Fuscardo, Alex Pantuso and Christian Porterfield. Preston Falascino received a second-team nod. The Rock begin the PSAC tournament this morning in Johnstown against Shippensburg.
After seeing limited time as a freshman in 2016, Daugherty has had an impressive spring out of The Rock bullpen, going 2-1 with four saves and a 2.57 ERA. He has 34 strikeouts in 28 innings. Opponents have hit just .248 against him. Daugherty was named the WPIAL Quad-A pitcher of the year his senior season with Butler when he went 8-0.
