The Butler Girl’s Track & Field team picked up three victories at the 44th annual Baldwin Invitational Friday. Alexis Leech won the 400-meter dash with a school record time of 55.53. She broke the record set by Annessa Schnur in 1999 at 55.90. Leech was also part of the winning 3200-meter Relay team with Erin LeMay, Shana Hoy and Liz Simms. Simms also won the 800-meter dash, and was just .02 seconds from the school record.
The girls compete for the WPIAL Team Championship this afternoon at Baldwin High School. The meet features Butler, Norwin, Hempfield and North Allegheny. Meet time is 4pm.
Also at the Baldwin Invitational Friday, Knoch senior Jordan Geist broke his own meet record in the shot-put with a throw of 74-feet, 9-inches. He topped his previous mark by more than two feet. Geist also won the discus with a throw of 198-feet, 6-inches – also breaking his own meet record by five feet.
