Joey Logano made the most of his three hundredth career start on Sunday at Richmond International Raceway, breaking into the 2017 win column with his eighteenth Cup Series victory. Logano made a late pit stop during the day’s final caution and fresh tires paid big dividends. He quickly roared past the six drivers who stayed out on older tires and led the final seventeen laps. Logano’s teammate Brad Keselowski finished second, followed by Denny Hamlin.
In the NHRA: Steve Torrence won the Top Fuel event at the Four-Wide Nationals in North Carolina. He topped points-leader Leah Pritchett, Tony Schumacher and Terry McMillen in the final round. Ron Capps was the Funny Car winner, it was his 52nd career victory.
