The South Butler School Board and the district’s teachers’ union continue to try to find common ground with less-formal, off-the-record contract talks.
District Solicitor Tom Breth said the two sides last met last week in the latest effort to reach a collective bargaining agreement. No formal proposals were exchanged but Breth said the school board hopes to have a deal in place soon to allow for new healthcare coverage for teachers to begin July 1.
The two sides have been meeting for years to try to come to an agreement.
The latest teachers’ contract expired June 30, 2014 and they have been working without a contract since. Both sides are expected to meet again on Monday.
