Slippery Rock University is taking an active role in environmental concerns through several events over the next couple weeks.
First, the SRU Office of Sustainability is holding an Earth Day Carnival Tuesday in the Quad. The carnival will include educational games and prizes from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the anniversary of the beginning of the modern environmental movement in 1970. An environmental speaker will give a keynote address and lead a panel discussion later in the evening.
SRU Earth Days will continue with Electronic Waste Recycling Days this Friday and Saturday. This collection is free and open to the public. Saturday is also a community clean up day.
SRU has a goal of becoming carbon neutral by the year 2037.
