Spring has arrived in downtown Butler with a couple of events coming up later this week.
“The Spring Fling is an event that’s held by Butler Downtown to show appreciation for the volunteers who volunteer to help with the different events that Butler Downtown plans and then also to recruit new volunteers. We always need people to help from the simplest things like handing out flyers to volunteering at events to help organize things.”
Butler Downtown member John Smith talks about the Spring Fling event this Wednesday, April 19th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Butler Art Center on South Main Street. There is no charge to attend and the evening will include live music, refreshments, prizes, and many Butler Downtown members available to answer questions.
Later this week, volunteers are needed for the Big Spring Clean scheduled for Saturday, April 22nd from 8 a.m. to noon beginning at the parking lot next to the library. Butler Downtown Vice President Jared Sullivan discusses the impact this event has on the community.
“We partner up with the Shade Tree Commission and it’s really nice to see. You look up Main Street and there’s a lot of people on both sides, mulching and weeding, and when it’s all done it just looks so clean and crisp. It’s a nice thing that they do.”
The rain date for that event is the following day, Sunday, April 23rd. Participants are invited to bring gloves, garden tools, buckets, brooms, and dustpans but equipment will also be provided.
