Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney has passed away at the age of 84 following a brief illness. Rooney succeeded his father and the Steelers founder, Art Rooney, Sr. as team president in 1975. They became just the second father-son combo to be inducted into the Hall. Dan Rooney became one of the most respected owners in football, and was appointed as the American ambassador to Ireland by President Obama in 2009.
