State House Republicans have introduced their budget proposal for the coming fiscal year and it could be voted on and sent to the Senate today.
The plan took Democratic Governor Tom Wolf’s proposal and cut another $800 million from it by slashing dollars from Health & Human Services and the Department of Correction. There are no new taxes included in it.
“We accepted a lot of what the governor put forth back in February,” House Majority Leader Dave Reed said.
Democratic leaders criticized the plan, saying it dismantles needed programs and does not address the matter of waste.
