The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 last night at PPG Paints Arena. The victory was their second in a row after a four-game losing streak. Conor Sheary scored the game-winning goal, his 22nd goal of the season on a third period power play. The Pens also picked up a first period power play goal from Jake Guentzel. Goaltender Matt Murray won his 30th game of the season, and the win moved the Penguins into second place in the Metropolitan Division with four games remaining. The Pens are one point better than Columbus, who lost to Washington 3-2 last night. The Pens will host the Blue Jackets tomorrow night.
Another Penguins players has been lost to injury. Chris Kunitz was hurt late in the victory over the New York Rangers Friday night. The injury appears to be long-term.
