Slippery Rock University will hold a ceremony later this week to present awards to students who work to reduce barriers for people with disabilities.
The second annual Breaking Barriers award winners will be announced Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Smith Student Center.
Applicants submitted an essay addressing what they have done to help overcome barriers in the physical or social environment at SRU. Also a faculty or staff award will be presented to a university employee who has demonstrated advocacy or leadership in reducing barriers for disabled people on campus.
Award winners will receive a plaque recognizing their achievement as well as a $400 scholarship.
