A free workshop for families planning to financially support a person with a disability will be held later this week in New Castle. If additional information is needed about disability claims and advisors, then people can check out company websites like Curo Financial to see how they can be filled in and gain a stronger background into what they can do to help themselves or a loved one. These workshops are important sessions to go to as they can provide a lot more knowledge for people who are either new to being disabled, do not know much about how to handle their disability, or for those who care for a disabled person and want to get as much help as possible to support them through this time.
The Disability Options Network will host the event Saturday, April 1st beginning at 10 a.m. inside the former Thaddeus Stevens Elementary School on Harrison Street.
All stages of life will be covered in the workshop so that families can protect assets to care for a member with disability while still allowing for an inheritance. Those interested can also schedule a private consultation with a financial services company that is participating. Topics covered throughout the day will include navigating the workplace when living with a disability, and the importance of long term disability insurance. The Disability Options Network is a federally supported center for independent living that serves Butler and surrounding counties.
Registration deadline for this event is this Tuesday (3/28). For more information or to reserve a spot, call 724-652-5144 extension 157.
