The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team saw their season come to an end last night in Erie with an 88-73 loss to Mercyhurst in the opening game of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament. The loss gave Rock head coach Kevin Reynolds the first losing season of his nine-year career at SRU. The Rock men finish 14-15 overall, but return 7 of their 10 players next season. Mercyhurst moves on to the PSAC second round and will face top-seed IUP tomorrow night.
The Pitt men’s basketball team visit Georgia Tech tonight. Tip-off is 9pm. The Panthers are 15-14 overall, 4-12 in the ACC. Tech is 16-13 overall, and 7-9 in the ACC.
The Robert Morris women’s basketball team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 62-48 last night, clinching the North East Conference regular season title, and will be the conference tournament’s top seed. The Colonials are now 19-10 overall, 14-4 in the NEC.
