Butler City Council will not enter into an agreement at this time to move ahead with plans to monetize their parking assets.
Council rejected a motion during last night’s meeting to deliver a letter of agreement to consulting firm HJA Strategies, who made a presentation to council at Tuesday night’s agenda setting meeting. Mayor Tom Donaldson was the only vote in favor of executing the agreement.
The plan for HJA Strategies to study how a lease arrangement might work for Butler would have cost $5,000 per month for six months.
Donaldson said the company requested that a vote be taken and he is in favor because many conversations have already taken place behind the scenes. Council members who voted against the move felt it was too early in the process to enter into an agreement.
