Boys WPIAL first round—Class 6-A:
–Butler-71 Baldwin-62. Joel Stutz led Butler with 20 points. The Golden Tornado will meet Latrobe Saturday.

Southwest Christian Athletic Conference semi-finals:
–Portersville Christian- 65 Conerstone Christian-43. Portersville Christian will meet Cheswick Christian in the championship game Saturday at Geneva College. Tip-off is 7pm.
–The Portersville Christian girls host Evangel Heights Christian tonight in the semi-finals at 5:30pm.
Tonight in boys Class 3-A: Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic will face Riverside at Sewickley Academy at 8pm.
In girls Class 4-A: Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic will face Central Valley at Sewickley Academy at 6:30pm.
–Tonight in District-9 boys basketball: Karns City will face Moniteau at 6pm.
Daniel Schell of Mars high school won the WPIBL boys singles championship Wednesday at Sims Lanes in Beaver County. Schell defeated Jon Kleer of Moon 195-188 in the championship game. He had to defeat Butler’s Nick Huff and Franklin Regional’s Kyle Wilkinson in a 9th & 10th frame roll-off after the three tied for the sixth and final “step-ladder” championship spot. Schell went on to win three step-ladder matches for the title.
