The Minnesota Vikings announced late Friday afternoon that the team had released former Slippery Rock University offensive lineman Brandon Fusco.
Fusco, who graduated from Slippery Rock after the 2010 season, was the first Rock player to participate in the Senior Bowl. Additionally, he won the Gene Upshaw Award (given annually to the best offensive lineman in Division II), and was also invited to the NFL Combine. He also signed a five year, $25 million contract extension with the team before the 2014 season.
The Vikings drafted Fusco in the 6th round (172nd overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft. During his six seasons with the team, Fusco started in 64 games at left guard and right guard, paving the way for star running back Adrian Peterson.
