Slippery Rock University distance runner Ryan Thompson has been named the PSAC male “track athlete of the week”. Thompson, a Slippery Rock high school graduate, was recognized after posting the third-fastest mile in school history at the Youngstown Invitational. The Rock senior crossed the mile mark in just over 4:13, just missing the record set by two-time Olympic Trials qualifier Jeff Weiss in 2009. Thompson’s time was a full ten seconds faster than any other runner in the PSAC this season.
