Butler Township resident Jim Keffalas and his family made the trip to D.C. to celebrate the inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump.
“We were Trump supporters from the very beginning,” Keffalas said. “We are just so happy that he’s becoming our president.”
Keffalas is staying two blocks from the White House and has tickets to this morning’s swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol and for the inaugural parade down Pennsylvania Avenue from the Capitol to the White House. They’ll conclude the trip with the Freedom Inaugural Ball at the Washington Convention Center Friday night.
Keffalas expects protesters but does feel safe in attending.
“I’m hoping that the protesters are civil and decent about it,” he said. “But, when you decline to go out in the public and you’re intimidated to the point that you decline to go out because of possible violence, they have won.”
Hundreds of thousands are expected in the nation’s capital to mark the occasion throughout the weekend.
