High School Sports:
Butler runner Noah Beveridge broke the school record in the 3000-meter during the Tri-State Coaches Association meet at Edinboro University Saturday. Beveridge broke the record set by Gary Garman in 1999 with a time of 8:58. His time was the third-best mark in Pennsylvania this year, and fourth-best time in the nation.
The Butler girls team captured three first place finishes at the meet, and placed in 11 of the 16 events. There were 64 teams at the meet. Alexis Leech led the Butler winners with a victory in the 400-meter run, with a time that qualifies for the state meet. The Distance Medal Relay team of Erin LeMay, Maegen Emanuel, Mariah Geibel and Maggie Welty set a new school record with a first-place finish in a time just shy of 13:20.
