The Ottawa Senators defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 last night. Conor Sheary scored the only Penguins goal. Matt Murray returned to the Penguins goal following an injury suffered in December, and stopped 29 of 33 shots.
It was the second consecutive loss for the Pens, and first time in more than a year that the Pens lost back-to-back games in regulation. Head coach Mike Sullivan was ejected near the end of last night’s game. The Pens are now 26-10-5 overall, which is still the third-best record through their first 41 games in franchise history.
The Pens have fallen into a third-place tie with the New York Rangers in the Metro Division. They remain three points behind Columbus. The Penguins visit Detroit tomorrow night. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game on WISR is 6:30pm.
