George Kosana, who played the sheriff in the cult zombie film Night of the Living Dead, has died.
Longtime friend and co-writer of the movie John Russo said Kosana was found dead Friday in his home in Clairton, Pennsylvania.
Russo recruited Kosana for the part of Sheriff McClelland in the 1968 film, saying his friend was a “natural” for the role.
The Night of the Living Dead was directed by George Romero and filmed in Evans City. There is a Living Dead Museum and Gift Shop on Main Street in Evans City.
Kosana was 81.
