College Bowl Results from Monday:–Southern California defeated Penn State 52-49 in the Rose Bowl. Nittany Lions quarterback Trace McSorley was intercepted with under 30 seconds remaining in the game, and that led to the Trojans game-winning field goal. Penn State running back Saquon Barkley rushed for 194 yards on 25 carries in the game and scored two touchdowns. McSorley threw four touchdowns in the loss.
–Wisconsin handed Western Michigan their first loss of the season with a 24-16 victory in the Cotton Bowl.
–Florida crushed Iowa 30-3 in the Outback Bowl.
Alabama and Clemson will play for the national championship next Monday. Alabama eliminated Washington 24-7 in a national semi-final game over the weekend. Clemson defeated Ohio State 31-0.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban has announced offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will not coach in that game, but instead leave the Crimson Tide for the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic.
Curt Cignetti has left IUP for the head coaching job at Elon. Cignetti went 53-17 in six seasons for the Crimson Hawks.
