Former Slippery Rock University football coach Phil Longo was hired on Friday as the offensive coordinator at Ole Miss.
Longo, who was on the Slippery Rock staff from 2011-2013, served as offensive coordinator for two years and implemented the spread offense into the Green and White program. He then went on to Division I (FCS) Sam Houston State, where he has been the team’s offensive coordinator for the last three seasons. Sam Houston’s offense has averaged nearly 50 points per game during the 2016 season. Longo has previous coaching experience at Youngstown State and LaSalle, among others.
Ole Miss competes in the SEC Conference. Longo’s contract is for two years, with a salary of $600,000 in year one, and $700,000 in year two.
