The Butler Area Senior High Library will be adding to their collection thanks to the efforts of a local librarian and a well-known author.
Librarian Kathe Santillo applied for a grant through the Scholastic Reading Club and best-selling author James Patterson. She was recently awarded $5,000 for library use through this program.
The funding application for the Senior High was chosen from thousands received by Patterson himself, who has donated more than $3 million to libraries across the country.
Santillo plans to use the money to purchase non-fiction books on world culture and current events, which can be used to support curriculum and graduation projects.
