The United Way of Butler County is in the process of shifting their focus from fundraising to confronting the issue of poverty in our community.
The organization’s Board of Directors recently met and developed a three year strategic plan. Included in that plan is a goal called “30 by 30” which would move 30 percent of people living below the Self-Sufficiency Standard in Butler County above that threshold by 2030.
The United Way of Butler County will continue to coordinate fundraising efforts however the issue of poverty will determine fundraising strategies rather than fundraising determining investments.
Using the Self-Sufficiency Standard for Pennsylvania, nearly 35 percent of the residents of Butler County are living paycheck to paycheck.
